z/OS for System Programmers
Code: ZOSSPDescription
This course covers the major components of z/OS and its Architecture.
Audience
This course is aimed at:
- z/OS System Programmers
- Trainee z/OS System Programmers
Prerequisites
Attendees should have a minimum of 2 years supporting a z/OS operating system.
Attendees should have completed an introduction to z/OS.
Objectives
Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe the major components of z/OS and its Architecture. Storage Management, Program Management and Data Management are explained. Serialization and Supervisor Services are also explained. How to build a z/OS system in selecting the correct parameters for initialization. The IPL Process is fully explained. The attendee will understand in detail how z/OS Dumps are created. SMF, WLM, GRS and the Recovery components function. Understanding and Defining a Parallel Sysplex is also covered. A number of Workshops are included to reinforce topics covered.
