CICS & WebSphere Application Server on zSeries
Code: CICSWASDescription
This course explains how CICS can interact with Web based technologies.
Audience
This course is intended for technicians who need to understand how CICS can interact with Web based technologies. They will gain an understanding of the changes that need to be made to CICS and how to add and deploy web based applications that will drive CICS transactions.
Prerequisites
Attendees must have a basic knowledge of CICS system parameters.
Some knowledge of Java Runtime Environments would be helpful, but not necessary.
Objectives
The first day of this course contains a brief overview of how to configure CICS for Web access, allowing Websphere to communicate with the CICS regions. The remainder of the course we will concentrate on the Websphere Application Server side of the configuration, configuring a Java Runtime Environment and deploying applications that can communicate with back end CICS transactions.
Due to the number of different uses for CICS and Websphere Application servers, and the ability to have multiple WAS environments for reliability and resilience, this will be a high level course providing the necessary knowledge to investigate an organisation's requirements and make the appropriate configuration changes.
