After completing this course, the participant will be able to install and maintain a z/OS system.
Audience
Technicians who already know the basic functionality in z/OS, or who have attended Part 1 and need to learn more about installation, customization and upgrading.
Prerequisites
Ideally, attending Part 1: z/OS Fundamentals. The participant should know the basics of z/OS, how to handle TSO ISPF / PDF, be able to write JCL and run batch jobs and have the ability to read REXX and CLIST.

- Order of software through ShopZ
- Configuration of z/OSMF for the installation of z/OS and maintenance procedures
- Use of HCD to define partitions and configuration
- Basic PARMLIB parameters
- Basics of adapting the ISPF environment
- Customizing the USS environment
- Basic customization of TCP/IP and VTAM parameters
- Use of SMP/E
- HMC management, basic configuration and profiles
- IPL of z/OS
- Basic z/OS and JES2 commands
- Handling a parallel SYSPLEX
- Basics in automation products such as TWS, NetView/SystemAutomation
- Basic customization of SMS
- Configuration of security features, RACF
- Documentation and reporting of problems to IBM Internet/OSMF
